The Third Sector has a key role to play in bringing together experts, including technology leaders, software engineers, researchers and advocates, to present a set of principles that can be provided to policymakers. These guidelines can focus on issues such as programmer bias that can result in virtual worlds that do not reflect the interests, needs, and concerns of traditionally marginalized groups. Other areas of focus could include protecting the rights of minors and ensuring that hate, violence and misogyny do not become mainstays of the metaverse like they do on the internet. The first signs of such problems are already emerging in the metaverse, including incidents involving gaming avatars.
Manaus City Hall, through the Manaus Solidária Fund, launched notice no. 004/2021, exclusively for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that work with self-sustainable projects, generating work, income and social inclusion, related to the municipality's priority goals , such as combating situations that expose the population to conditions of social vulnerability. Each institution can submit a proposal worth up to R$ 100 thousand. The final date for submitting proposals will be the 31st of this month.
