All this material, according to the DPU, must be available in the equipment and services that serve these people. There must also be a specific space allocated in these locations for people who are at risk for Covid-19, such as the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses.

Another suggestion from the DPU is that public educational and sporting spaces whose use has been suspended as a result of the pandemic have hygiene equipment such as changing rooms and bathrooms, used to accommodate homeless people, and that there is no indiscriminate policy of compulsory hospitalization of these people. population.

The document with the DPU recommendations indicates that, in the current situation of the evolution of the coronavirus in Brazil, it is essential that hygiene is an individual and collective priority.

“There then arises an even greater need to provide homeless citizens with what is necessary so that they can carry out their hygiene and have their right to health guaranteed”, said the body in its suggestions, remembering that these are also recommendations from the Ministry of Health.

Rio de Janeiro will have hygiene kits

In the city of Rio de Janeiro, the city hall will distribute kits hygiene for the homeless population.

The municipal secretary of Social Assistance and Human Rights, Tia Ju, informed that the department is surveying prices for purchasing the kits.

“We are planning to acquire hygiene kits to be distributed to this population and work incisively with fostering awareness, because when we welcome them, they will certainly be less vulnerable than they are on the streets. We are already in the quotation phase for these kits", he said.

Another decision by the department is to install showers and sinks in some parts of the city so that the homeless population can clean themselves.

The secretary said that she is in agreement with the Public Ministry, Santa Casa and the Catholic Church to define the locations and the provision of spaces.

“Santa Casa, the Public Ministry and the Catholic Church will provide spaces for us to install showers and sinks, in the city center and in other areas, so that people can make use of these hygiene kits that we will be distributing. So, actions will also be intensified for this population, which we know is in great need”, he stated.

According to the secretary, serving the homeless population is a concern for the department, mainly because they are more vulnerable.

As medidas são discutidas em reuniões com técnicos da secretaria e da prefeitura, além de assistentes sociais.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Fonte: AgênciaBrasil[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
