[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Pesquisadores do Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) at the University of São Paulo (USP) developed different methods to increase the number of diagnoses of patients with the new coronavirus.
One of the fronts allows tests to be carried out to identify the virus using equipment available in most of the country's laboratories. The technique uses nationally produced reagents and will reduce the disease detection time to four hours, with the same effectiveness as the conventional test.
USP scientists are also developing a rapid test that uses antibodies to identify infected people from secretions produced in the throat.
The next stage of the study is to inoculate the proteins in laboratory animals so that they can produce the antibodies. The prediction is that the Product be ready for clinical trials in about 20 days.
In addition, the team is working on a serological test using the Elisa method (enzymatic immunoassay), which analyzes who has already been cured and is immunized. In this way, the gradual return of the population to circulating on the streets can be facilitated.
The tests await standardization to be completed, published and subsequently used.
