Another 205 beds will be created in the city, 100 in a private space provided in Santo Cristo, 55 new female beds at the Hotel Popular in Central do Brasil and 50 in the Hotel Popular for the elderly, in the Center.
The rooms will have, on average, seven beds and two fans. Showers were installed in the bathrooms. Those welcomed will receive a hygiene kit – the city hall purchased 15,000 of these, because many are already receiving them on the street –, with soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, scarf and towel, and will be entitled to three meals a day. However, there will be no cafeterias, as a measure to avoid crowds. Another preventive action is not to offer alcohol gel, as a large part of the homeless population suffers from drug addiction, so any Product with alcohol is avoided.
The sambadrome will still serve those who are not sheltered. In the external area, two containers will be set up with bathrooms to sanitize those who need it.
